Why I Blog

It has been awhile, and to be honest... I wasn't sure I was going to get on here again.  2020 has been a tough year.  I thought about things I wanted to blog about and I even took pictures of several things that I wanted to share, but I always felt weird when it came time to sit down and post them.  It seemed to me that most bloggers felt that they needed to spend a lot of time using their platforms to discuss all the things that have been going on this year.  While I, of course, have thoughts and feelings about these things, I did not want to share them.  I am a private person.  It is hard for me to even share what I do on this blog.  I was not willing to use this platform to share my private thoughts and feelings about all of these important events of this year, so I kept quiet.

I have also been thinking about how much blogging has changed in the last decade.  To be honest, I miss the blogs from the good old days when people just shared great recipes, tips, tutorials, ideas, etc. etc. without thoughts of compensation.  The photos did not need to be magazine worthy and the posts did not need to be perfectly edited.  Now don't get me wrong, I really love all the beautiful, perfect blogs out there and I know sooooo much work goes into them, but I wish that there were some people that were still sharing some of their great content without feeling the pressure to be so perfect, or without the need to make so much money in order to make the time they put into their blogs worthwhile.

Yes, I have ads and affiliate links on my blog and I do make some money from them.  That money helps to buy Christmas and birthday gifts and allows a few splurges here and there.  I am so grateful for every little bit of income that my blog provides and for every person who trusts me enough to click on one of those links and makes a purchase based on my recommendations, but at the end of the day, that is not why I blog.

My purpose for this blog has never been about providing perfect, professional, magazine-worthy content.  I have always wanted it to be a sort of daybook, or journal, of the domestic things I do and love.  If some of the things I post are of value to others, then that makes me even happier.

So, I am going to try to get back in the game, but I am going to continue to play my game. The pictures will not be perfect.  The posts will not be professionally edited.  I will not be writing posts based on SEO. I will not worry that I am not blogging on WordPress. I will most likely not be posting about current events or other timely subjects. I will just share like I always have - -  I will post about the domestic things I love, and I hope that you, my awesome people, will find some things you love here too.
