Light and Fluffy Homemade Whole Wheat Waffles (or pancakes)

These homemade whole wheat waffles are light and fluffy and so flavorful! I almost always make these with flour made from hard white wheat that I have ground myself, but I have made them with ground hard red wheat and they turn out just as well and are just as delicious.  If you are going to be making whole wheat recipes often, I highly recommend getting your own wheat grinder.  It is a little spendy up front, but if you use it often it is soooo worth it.  I love mine.  I will leave an affiliate link to the one that is similar to the one I have and love at the end of the post.

I have loved these whole wheat waffles ever since I was a kid.   Now, my boys love them too. We especially love them with blueberries in them.  My oldest will even forego the syrup when blueberries are added.  As a bonus, this recipe can also be made into pancakes with no changes.

Honestly, this is the best recipe for whole wheat waffles (or pancakes) that I have ever tried.

I have a Nutrimill Harvest Grain Mill.  I love that it is easy to use, care for, and clean.  As a plus, it looks beautiful on your countertop if you need to store it there.  I could not find it on Amazon, but I am linking one that looks very similar.

In addition, if you are in the market for a new waffle maker, I love mine.  I would say that it makes waffles that are between a traditional waffle and a Belgian waffle and it has wells on each side of the iron to catch any overflow.  No more messy countertops or power cords! Love it.
